Jallikattu is one of the oldest sports in India, if not the oldest. Believed to have first been practised more than 2,000 years ago, this dare devil sport has become part of the tradition during the annual Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu. It involves men trying to hang onto the hump of untamed bulls. The documentary JallikattuFestival Of The Untameable Spirit gives an insight into the sport, its history, and its significance in contemporary culture in Tamil Nadu. Exemplified as a sign of bravery, this historic sport has breathed new life into the survival of the rare breed of Pulikulam bulls and is world over regarded as one of the most dangerous, thrilling and adrenaline pumping festivals ever.
